Nostalgiating: the old Hard Candy logo

Writer: Billie RogueBillie Rogue

It's disappointing to say the least that Hard Candy has definitely changed for the boring. Their brand has been trying to establish a more plain, minimal look to their products to catch up with the looks of Maybelline, NYX, Cover Girl and other major drugstore brands. This isn't to sh**t on those companies because even though their branding and design is quite minimal, it's something they've long established in their branding identities. Hard Candy on the other hand was known for the edgy but cute, bad girl packaging design. It's what is expected from a brand named Hard. Candy.

From the outside perspective, yes, this logo is quite outdated. The grunge vines and the random birds being placed on each side. It all resembles a tramp stamp tattoo (pretty popular in the Naughties) and it just hits me right in the Jersey Shore childhood. I'm assuming this logo was used from the mid-2000s to whatever (I'm only 23) but logos from the 2000s have a spark to them because they had a strong sense of personality. They were not afraid to just be a little tacky if it meant showing what Hard Candy was all about and what type of products you'd be expecting.

We need more logos like this again that are a little outrageous with showing what they bring to the table.
